PRESS RELEASE
Officials from Poltair School, St Austell, joined TEC Construction to
celebrate the completion of a new £160,000 student services centre at a
special handover ceremony.
TEC Construction Managing Director Tony Carson and site supervisor Owen Rowe
officially handed over to Headteacher Heather McIlroy & Chair of Governers
Diana Pride, at a special ceremony at the school.
The centre which will be used as the base for a wide range of services for
students, has been completely refurbished to provide new state of the art
classrooms and offices for a number of organisations. It contains a new
purpose built reception area, two rooms to be used for social inclusion, a
purpose built SEN classroom with an interactive white board and two one to
one rooms.
There will also be a suite of offices which will be used to house
representatives from Connexions, Devon and Cornwall Police, Social
Inclusion, a Councillor and the schools Head of student services Steve
Watkinson and SEN staff.
The building will also have, by September, a full 12 station hair salon with
beauty rooms which will be used by Poltair students and pupils from other
local schools.
TEC Construction has established a strong pedigree in the education sector
working in Devon and Cornwall and is currently working on Whitchurch School
in Tavistock,
Tony Carson M.D. comments “ It has been an absolute pleasure working with
the staff of the school who have been extremely helpful. This is an exciting
time for Poltair school and we are thrilled to be involved in such an
innovative project in Cornwall. Working on the school whilst students are
there always poses a few logistical challenges, however, with our
construction expertise working alongside schools and colleges and commitment
to Health and Safety, everything was completed with minimum disruption.
